Assigning Source Numbers to Titles

Source Bin and Number indicate where the title may be found on hard drive, tape, compact disc, etc. You may leave these boxes blank, but they are required if your digital automation system is to find the song for playback.

Source:
The music source is a two character code used to define the source of the title for playback.

Bin:
The "bin" number (or name) is used primarily for automation systems that require a "category" for hard-drive audio. You could also use it to designate the location or rack for a particular music source.

Number:
You may press {F8} in the Number box to have the system automatically assign the next available number. If you attempt to assign a number that is in use in a source that has been defined as requiring unique-numbering, the system will notify you that it is a duplicate.

Cut:
In addition to the source number, a two digit Cut Number may be added. This is useful for music sources like compact discs where the same source number would be assigned to all titles on the disc, and each title would have a unique cut number (corresponding to its track number on the disc).

Automated stations should check the technical specifications help topics for specific requirements on music sources to assure correct interface with your digital automation system.
