A Protection (Mins) box is available on Inventory screens for Artist and Title. Use this only if you
wish Artist or Title Separation protection during scheduling for an amount of
time that is different from normal. In "Scheduling Rules" you have set a global
number of minutes for artist protection and for title protection. If you leave these blank (zero), this
title abides by the global protections. Normally, almost all titles will
have zero protection minutes for both artist and title.
For artists, your entry should be the number of minutes separation you require
before this artist can be played again (before or after this title).
For titles, your entry should be the number of minutes separation you require
before the same title by a different artist can be played again (before or after
this title).
Example 1:
You have set normal Artist Protection at 72 minutes. You want to allow Led Zeppelin selections to rotate faster than other artists. You enter 55 in the Artist Protection (Mins) box on a Led Zeppelin title. This allows this title to come up only 55 minutes after another Led Zeppelin song.Example 2:
Your station wants to occasionally play an Elvis oldie. You normally require a 98 minute artist protection, but when you play Elvis, you don't want to hear him again for 6 hours. You enter 360 in the Artist Protection (Mins) box for each Elvis title.Example 3:
You have two versions of Proud Mary. Creedence is in a Power-Gold rotation, Ike & Tina are in a Light Gold rotation. Enter 187 in Title Protection (Mins) box for both titles. If either version plays, at least 3 hours and 7 minutes must pass before the other one may play.
